nesting * geeking * critiquing

First impressions aren’t my strong suit. My innately low self-esteem tends to beget awkwardness and self-deprecating humor. Kinda like Kristen Stewart. Except that I am obviously chubbier, exponentially more expressive, occasionally funny and no ‘RPatz’ in sight…sooo, I guess we have one of those things in common now.

Darth Amethystos is the alter ego of a 30-something girl from America’s heartland: me.chillin'
I’m an only child who’s held a lifelong love of Star Wars, writing, dogs, cats, chocolate, music and a slew of other things that I now realize make me a dorky fangirl. I spend most of my days plotting my next trip and eventual move to the Pacific Northwest.

I have “Anakin tendencies,” which flare up from time to time and cause me to gravitate to the darker, edgier and more melancholy aspects of life. Translation: I kinda like rebellious, emo stuff. Hence the creation of my Sith Lordess alter ego. And my love of the rainy Pac NW.
My sunnier self enjoys baking and quilting and shopping and sleeping and commas. And also snark. Generous helpings of snark.

Alongside my man (who is herein referred to as “Severus” and maintains remarkable tolerance of my geeky ways in spite of his relative lack thereof), I lead a quiet life on four acres in the small town where my grandparents grew up. We have a ridiculously fluffy cat (Rue) and two mixed-breed dogs of the cute, goofy variety (Scout & Shadow). No kids, which is both by chance and choice at the moment; you can read more about that in the post Woman, yes. Mom, no.

I’ve worked in various editorial roles for the last decade, most recently writing and editing for a major greeting card company. The thriving creative community and awesome stable of licensed properties we get to play with make it a pretty great place to work.

My heart can usually be found on my sleeve, so you needn’t search far for a peek into the world of Darth Amethystos.
