“Describe yourself…” Okay, well, I make a great second impression.
Darth Amethystos is the Sith-tacular alter ego of a 30-something girl from America’s heartland: me.
I’m an only child who’s held a lifelong love of Star Wars, writing, dogs, cats, chocolate, music and a slew of other things that I now realize make me a hopeless fangirl.
I have “Anakin tendencies,” which flare up from time to time and cause me to gravitate to the darker, edgier and more melancholy aspects of life. Rainy days make me happy.
In fairness, sunny days make me happy too. My sunnier self enjoys baking, looking for deals, plotting my next travel adventure, tinkering in my “workshop” (the Star Wars room), taking naps and using commas—but not Oxford commas. Gross. Oh, and also snark. Generous helpings of snark.
Alongside my man (who is herein referred to as “Severus” and maintains remarkable tolerance of my geeky ways despite his relative lack thereof) I lead a quiet, commuter’s life in the small town where my grandparents grew up. We have a ridiculously fluffy tortie cat named Rue and two mixed-breed dogs of the cute, geriatric variety: Scout (Trooper) & Shadow (Trooper). No kids, which is both by chance and choice at the moment; you can read more about that in the post Woman, yes. Mom, no.
I’ve worked in various editorial roles for the last decade, most recently writing and editing for a major greeting card company. The thriving creative community and awesome stable of licensed properties we get to play with make it a pretty incredible place to work.
My heart can usually be found on my sleeve, so you needn’t search far for a peek into the world of Darth Amethystos.
