Prophecies

Remember a few days ago when I said I might be prophetic?  Yeah, I’m kind of wishing I hadn’t said that.

Last weekend, we went on a quick weekend trip with some friends.  As we embarked towards home, we came up on some road work and were forced to come to an abrupt stop.  From highway speeds to complete braking, it was a little unpleasant.

Our friends (we’ll call them S & T) were trailing about ten minutes behind us, so I let a little time elapse then texted T.

“Have you guys come to the screeching stop yet? So much for a quick trip home”

Less than a minute later, my phone rang—they were in an accident.  When they came up on the traffic jam, the guy behind them didn’t stop in time.

There’s an excellent chance that their car is totaled, but everyone is safe.  This is an especially good thing given that my sweet little three-month-old “niece” was in her carseat in the back.  If you have children, or just know people who do, please be sure that proper seat restraints are utilized at all times.  I’d hate to think what my life would be like without S & T and the little bundle who has brought joy to all of us.
